AUGUST

August 2nd Saturday, Men's Softball League Tournament at Ballas Park. Seeding for the tournament will be based on regular season record at that time. For additional info contact: Kellen Stumbris @ 927-0864.

August 4th thru August 8th Wausaukee & Athelstane Presbyterian Churches are offering Summer Bible School at the Athelstane Presbyterian Church for ages 5 and up. The program is called BEACH PARTY: SURFIN’ THROUGH THE SCRIPTURES. Each morning will include Bible stories, science activities, surfin’ tunes, crafts, games and snacks from 9:00 am to 11:30 am.  Pre-registration is recommended by calling Pastor Bob at 715-856-5012.

August 5th, National Night Out being held at the Wausaukee High School from 4 PM to 9 PM. Featuring free gun locks, Kid Care ID, mock crash scene, Eagle III Helicopter, Food Booth, McGruff The Crime Dog, Louie the Lightening Bug, Bicycle Rodeo, K-9 Demo, Dunk Tank, Games & Prizes, Info and Vehicle Display, Fireworks, Taser Demo, Field Sobriety Demo, live entertainment and more.

August 7th,  Thursday, Men's Evening Softball at Ballas Park. Games start at  6:30, 7:20, 8:10 and 9:00 PM. See Team Schedule in PDF Format for teams playing and at what times.

August 9th, Newingham's Supper Club Beach Party Night. Live band - Fahrenheit 420  playing from 7 pm till 11 pm in the outside pavilion located just behind the Supper Club. $25 cover charge includes 4 free beers and prizes. 722 Main Street, Wausaukee, WI 54177, call for details (715) 856-5966.

August 9th,  Silver CLiff Fire & Rescue Auxilliary Annual Fund Raising Picnic. Saturday @ 11AM to 7 PM @ Silver Cliff Memorial Picnic Grounds, Intersection County Trunk C and Parkway Road North Hwy I. Parade at 10 AM, games, food, booyah, face painting, raffles with cash prizes from $1000 to $200, DJ Music. Raffle tickets $1.00 each or 6 for $5.00, Winners need not be present at drawing 6:30 PM. August 10th, St. Agnes & St Augustine's Parish Church Picnic @ the St Augustine Church (Wausaukee) on the hill adjacent to the church. Outdoor Mass at 10 am, food, music, family olympics, kids games, raffles, silent auction. The public is invited.

August 11th, United Presbyterian Church of Amberg will hold Vacation Bible School from Monday Aug 11 to  Wed Aug 13th. 9 am to 11 am, children 3 years to 6th grade are welcome. The theme is "Fischers of Men" Call 715-759-5747.

August 13th, Wausaukee School Administration and Board of Education will hold a question & answer session at 7pm in the school auditorium. All area residents are welcome to attend.

August 16th,  Middle Inlet Fire Department Open House Saturday from 11am to 6pm. Fireman's water ball  contest at noon, bounce castle, raffles, children's games, bake sale, demonstrations, brats, burgers, hot dogs, live old country music from 1 to 5pm, drawings at 5. Tickets for drawings are $1 each or seven for $5.00. Winners need not be present.

August 17th, The First Presbyterian Church of Wausaukee will host an hour long old fashioned Hymn Sing on Sunday at 7 pm. A reception will follow in the church basement dining room. The public is invited.

August 24th, Wausaukee 2nd Annual Kindergarten Picnic Sunday at 4PM. Parents of children entering 5 year old kindergarten for the 2008-2009 school year are invited to bring their families to an informal cookout  welcoming picnic. August 30th, 28th Annual Amberg Volunteer Fire Department Parade on Saturday at 11am. Picnic festivities will begin at the Firemen's Pavilion. Food, beer, soda, games, lawn mower tractor races, and a horseshoe tournament. Live music from Rick Hanson 1 to 3 pm, Live Band "Cest La" from 7-11 pm.

 August 31st, Sunday - 11AM, Mullany McTrusty American Legion Post 428  and Auxiliary Unit Amberg will hold their Turkey Shoot and Raffle. Veterans Memorial Park on County V west of Amberg. Food, Drinks, Games, Raffles with cash prizes, Contact members for ticket sales.

August 31st, Sunday - 32nd Annual Auction Fund Raiser for Athelstane Fire Department and Silver Cliff Rescue Squad. Parade line up on at New Gas Station on Benson Lake Road 10AM with Parade starting a 10:30. Food, Games and Music to follow at Northwoods Bar on Cty A & Benson Lake Rd. 

September

September 1st thru 24th,  Wausaukee Branch Library will celebrate a month long salute to aprons called "Tie One On". Starting the first week in September, we will have apron handouts where participants can write down their apron memories.  We will be displaying aprons of all uses and will end the month-long salute with a program on Wed., Sept. 24 from 1-3PM For more information please contact the library @ 715-856-5995.

September 24, Wed from 1 to 3PM at the Wausaukee Branch Library. A program will be presented that will cover the history of aprons, allow anyone who wishes to share their aprons and stories, and we will serve a treat straight from the 1950s. September 27, Saturday at 11 am, American Legion Post 66 and the Auxiliary of Athelstane/Silvercliff will host a Chili & Soup Fest at Silvercliff Memorial Park. Twenty different varieties of chili and soup will be available along with pie, ice cream, music beer, soda, and 50/50 raffles. Bake sale proceeds go to the Children's Miracle Network.

September 27 & 28th, Sat & Sun, Near North Fall Sports Show at Marinette County Fairgrounds in Wausaukee WI. Music, food, kids games, prizes, Local 4H and Lions club participation for fund raising.
